Quality time for self care- VITAL.

And if you ask me this one is one of the most important aspects to improving your own self care.

Last week we discussed all the love languages in terms of our own self care.

We started off this journey discussing words of affirmation.  The words we use to our children we should equally speak as kindly and lovingly to ourselves.

We then discussed the need for physical touch.  It’s not only important for us to physically feel our own presence, but it can also help with how we view touch from others as well.

Acts of service not only means others can do for you, but that you can do for yourself too!  How about cleaning that room before going to bed to boost the wake up cycle?

And finally last week we talked about one of my favorites gift giving.  You don’t have to wait around for anyone else to buy you something mama, you can buy it yourself!

But for me, quality time is the most important part of my self care practice.

Quality Time

Gary used the quality time language to mean that a person cares about getting your attention.

So in terms of yourself, it means you like spending time in situations or events where your focus is on you!

I absolutely love spending time with myself haha.

I know this sounds terrible, but the reality is I enjoy my own time and it allows me to reconnect with myself and tap into my own needs.

Ironically (or maybe not ironically) this is also my love language with a partner.

I guess to me spending time trumps anything else.

There are so many things you can see when you spend time, especially when you spend time with yourself.

You are able to learn your fears, your wants, goals/ aspirations and so much more. 

So let’s get some tips on how you can give yourself your attention.

 

Quality Time Self Care Tips

I’m not sure why, but people think the statement “giving yourself attention” is a negative term.  But to me, what better way to learn about yourself than looking within.

So here’s the way you can spend some quality time with yourself for your self care practice:

  • Netflix and chill alone!
  • Take a nap
  • Read a book
  • Sit on a bench at a park
  • Have a scroll sesh (instagram, facebook, whatever!)
  • Enjoy a drink on the deck
  • Take a walk
  • Take a drive (alone)
  • Write out your goals/ plans
  • Go out to eat by yourself

Anytime you spend time with yourself mama I can guarantee you will learn something.

Spend some time with yourself today mama and truly check in with what you need.

Remember you can’t pour from an empty cup.
